Mission

Statement of Purpose

The Belgian American Educational Foundation, Inc. (B.A.E.F.) is a non-profit organization, incorporated in the United States, funded by the general public and qualified under 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Service Code.

The B.A.E.F. fosters the higher education of deserving Belgians and Americans through its exchange fellowship program. 

Since its founding in 1920 by President Herbert Hoover, the B.A.E.F. has provided 3,550 Belgians and 954 Americans with the opportunity for a period of advanced study or research in the partner country.

Programs

For the academic year 2015-2016, B.A.E.F. counts 89 Fellows.

Institutional Support

Outside its Fellowship Programs addressed to individuals, the Belgian American Educational Foundation provided assistance to institutions since 1979 through Special Programs. 

Lately, in 2006-2007, B.A.E.F. co-sponsored with the U.S. Embassy in Brussels the event “Remembering Herbert Hoover” celebrating the work of Herbert Hoover during World War I with venues in Brussels, Leuven, Antwerpen, and Mons.
